Ever wondered where the name Orchard Hill Farm comes from?
Our family has owned this property in Allegan County, Michigan for over a century! The mainstay had always been raising fruit, with the high ground giving a measure of protection against frost in the spring when buds are most susceptible. Apples, peaches, cherries, grapes and pears have all had their seasons on the farm, along with the small dairy and beef cattle herds that most every family operation of the era had. Even asparagus made their way here for a while. But times change and since the 1970’s the prevailing notion of get big or get out has taken over agriculture as a whole and the only way to compete as a smaller operation was to find a niche market. It was sad to see the orchards go up in smoke but we have raised amazing Wagyu beef in their place.
Following the quality over quantity ideal we look forward to another century of hard work and, with your help, success!
